The game is up at shardsofstone.com and you can play it in a browser, no install.

It's a real time strategy game in the Warcraft 2 mould. You gather gold, lumber and stone, build a base, train an army and knock the other side's base down. What's in it today:

  • Nine playable factions: Dwarves, Goblins, Ratmen, Lizardmen, High Elves, Dark Elves, Wood Elves, Humans and Undead
  • Skirmish against the computer on generated maps, with a choice of size, biome and difficulty
  • Dwarf and Goblin story campaigns
  • Ships, oil and naval fights on water maps
  • An AI versus AI mode if you'd rather watch

The oddest thing in there is an opponent run by a language model. You can hand a computer seat to Claude, ChatGPT or Gemini and it reads the board and changes its plan. I wrote up how that works in Letting a language model command an army.

It's early, and plenty will break. When it does, please tell me.
