#1Version 0.2.5 · Released 25 Mar 2026 · Download
Shards of Stone is out. It's a real-time strategy game in the spirit of Warcraft 2, and you can play it in your browser.
0.1.0 went up this afternoon and 0.2.5 this evening. The second one is nearly all desktop app fixes, so they share a post.
What you can play
- Nine factions: Dwarves, Goblins, Ratmen, Lizardmen, Humans, Undead, and the Wood, High and Dark Elves, each with its own units, buildings and tech tree
- Two campaigns, Dwarf and Goblin, 16 missions each, with voiced briefings and dialogue
- Skirmish against the AI on generated maps (islands, continents, coastal and more) in forest, winter, cave or swamp. Or put two AIs in and watch
- AI Commander, an optional opponent driven by a language model (how it works)
- Ships and oil: docks, transports, submarines and warships
- Spellcasters and research. Town halls upgrade twice, towers and farms once
- Trade by cart and merchant ship between marketplaces
- Fog of war, and sensor towers that spot enemies through it
- Music for every faction (how I made it)
- Save and load, a multiplayer lobby with chat, and player profiles
- Touch controls for phones and tablets
0.2.5
The desktop app has an update screen now. Most of the rest of 0.2.5 was getting the app to build at all.
Rough edges
It's early. Balance is all over the place and some art is still missing. It'll crash now and then too. The desktop app has had the least testing, so the browser is the better way to play for now.
If something breaks, tell me. That's why it's out.
